Topic Cluster

A topic cluster is a content structure where one broad pillar page covers a subject at a high level and links to multiple deeper cluster pages, each targeting a specific subtopic, with the cluster pages linking back to the pillar. This interlinking signals topical depth and helps search engines understand how a site covers a subject.

Why It Matters

Clusters demonstrate topical authority, which both search and generative engines reward. Comprehensive, well-linked coverage increases the chance of ranking for many related queries and of being pulled into AI answers on the theme.

Common Mistake

Building isolated pages that never link to a pillar or to each other. Without deliberate internal linking, the pages compete instead of reinforcing one another, and the topical authority signal is lost.
