Search Volume

Search volume is the average number of times a keyword is queried in a given period, usually monthly. It estimates demand for a topic and helps prioritize which terms are worth targeting.

Why It Matters

It sizes the opportunity behind a keyword before you invest in content or bids. Pairing volume with intent and difficulty tells you whether a term can realistically drive meaningful, qualified traffic.

Common Mistake

Chasing high-volume head terms while ignoring intent. A broad term with huge volume often converts poorly, while a lower-volume long-tail keyword closer to the buying decision drives more revenue per visit.
